A NARRATIVE SEQUENCE BETWEEN ANCIENT AND CONTEMPORARY

Extension of the Museum of the Novacella Abbey

MoDusArchitects

MoDusArchitects’s intervention deals with the need to reorganize the accessibility and usability of the public spaces inside the Novacella Abbey complex. The project involves three auxiliary buildings according to three different operational directions and defines new functional contents, generating unexpected connections through a single system of routes. In the project, the choice of concrete represents the essential component of a technical language that creates continuity with the architectural ancient language by re-proposing the construction codes of regular architecture in the walls. In the indoor space, all the chosen materials contribute, through their chromatic, textural and tactile characteristics, to display the narrative sequence between the start and end of the museum route, as conceived by the designers.
