Zubin Mehta Concert Hall. New Theatre of the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino

Versatile and Reconfigurable Space for a Musical Hub with International Relevance

ABDR Architetti Associati

The project of the new theater for the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino is based on a complex system of open pedestrian areas, articulated around the new volumes of the lyrical and symphonic halls. Both volumes and the massive base provide habitable coverings and out-and-out mineral gardens designed to host open activities within the music festival. The program was ultimately completed in December 2022, with the substitution of last-gen machinery for stage movement in the lyrical hall and, above all, the opening of the roof covering of the concert hall, where one of the greatest land art installations in Italy was realized: the permanent work Perspectives with Horizons by artist Alfredo Pirri.
