AN EXEMPLAR SYNTHESIS OF HISTORY, ART AND ARCHITECTURE

Museum of the Pinault collection at the Bourse de Commerce

Tadao Ando Architect & Associates (TAAA)

The museum of the Bourse de Commerce of Paris opened its doors to the public in May 2021. It stands as the last step of French multi-billionaire François Pinault: finally, he managed to compound the three prestigious Venetian museums – Palazzo Grassi (2005), Punta della Dogana (2009) and Teatrino (2013) – with the Parisian museum, which had already been included in his ambitious program for a long time. The project of these spaces is based on a cultural and pedagogic program whose purpose is to involve not only experts and enthusiasts of modern and contemporary art, but also a wider and more varied range of visitors. While strictly respecting the original characteristics, the building has been given a new life through a delicate restoration intervention and has been turned into a unique space, where it is possible to enjoy contemporary art and performances in the precious frame of historical traces, thanks to a design intervention by well-known Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
